Support John and Debra’s Medical Battle

Story

We are reaching out with heavy hearts and hopeful spirits to ask for your help in supporting John and Debra Owens, husband and wife, who are both facing difficult and severe medical battles at the same time.

John is battling Stage 5 Renal Failure, undergoing dialysis three times a week which leaves him exhausted, weak, and often in pain. Additionally, he recently had surgery to remove a cancerous kidney and, shortly after, was hospitalized again due to fluid around his lungs and heart and dangerously high blood pressure. During that hospitalization, imaging revealed a concerning lesion on his spine requiring further workup to rule out the possibility of cancer.

At the same time, Debra was diagnosed in February with Stage 4 Colon Cancer that has spread to her left ovary and abdominal cavity. Unfortunately, the cancer is considered inoperable and Debra is not a candidate for immunotherapy. She is currently undergoing intensive, multi-day chemotherapy that has severely weakened her immune system and has taken a toll on her body, leading to multiple hospitalizations for infections, anaphylactic reactions, and cardiac concerns.

Despite their serious medical challenges, both John and Debra continue to work as much as their health allows. They are deeply grateful for the understanding and support shown by their employers during this difficult time. However, as treatments and hospitalizations continue, their leave and paid time off are gradually being exhausted. Eventually, they may face periods of leave without pay, making it even more difficult to manage day-to-day expenses and medical costs.

John and Debra are the proud parents of two beautiful daughters, a son-in-law (and soon to be second son-in-law), and two grandchildren with a third on the way. They have devoted their lives to giving and caring for others. But now we ask for your help in giving to and caring for them during this trying time. Their medical expenses have become overwhelming with accumulating treatment costs, medications, medical supplies, home health, and bills. Your support would immensely help them through these financial challenges.

Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a meaningful impact on their lives, lighten their stress, and allow them to focus on healing.
